Wound Care Center

The Wound Care Center is an outpatient program that works closely with a patient’s physician to offer advanced technologies and proven clinical methods to treat chronic, non-healing wounds.

The mission of the Wound Care Center is to provide a comprehensive approach to chronic wounds, by factoring in nutrition, blood flow and arterial flow.

Serious complications can arise when a wound fails to heal. Problem wounds are more common among people with diabetes and heart disease and conditions that affect circulation and slow the skin’s ability to heal itself.

Non-healing wounds occur most frequently in the elderly and in people with diabetes. The wounds are associated with inadequate circulation, poorly functioning veins and immobility.
Halifax Regional is working with Diversified Clinical Services, which offers innovative techniques that focus on the complete healing by taking a disease management approach that eliminates the cause.

The Wound Care Center is located in Building 5 of the Medical Plaza on the Halifax Regional campus. Call (252) 535-2350 for information.
