Patient Education

The Patient Education Department at Halifax Regional is responsible for Inpatient and Outpatient educational consults ordered by physicians.  The patient educator conducts regular classes for staff and patients with a strong emphasis on issues that coincide with diabetes.  The Patient Educator also holds regular sessions to raise community awareness of diabetes, its causes and treatments.  A support group is held for diabetic patients and their loved ones.  The Patient Education Department’s benefit to patients is the knowledge provided about their condition.
