Dialysis Unit

Halifax Regional’s Dialysis Unit is a four bed unit located on the forth floor and provides hemodialysis treatments as prescribed by the nephrologists for inpatients.  The unit is staffed with registered nurses and dialysis technicians.  Patients treated in the Dialysis Unit are monitored very closely by staff with advanced training in critical care skills. Patients who need dialysis but are too unstable to be transported to the Dialysis Unit can be treated in their rooms with portable dialysis equipment. The department is available to the Medical Center’s inpatients 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
