HRMC Employee Publishes Book On Relationships
After her divorce and subsequent reentry into the dating world, Lisa Eriksson began keeping a dating journal, which she translated into a recently published book entitled, “Forget the Fairytale.” In the book, she couples her professional training as a social worker and her personal experiences in hopes of enlightening and encouraging others about their own relationships.
” As I would tell people stories about my experiences, I would laugh at myself in embarrassment,” said Eriksson. “Friends kept telling me that since I kept fumbling so much, but stayed in the game, it was something a lot of people could relate to and hopefully learn from. ‘You should write a book,’ they’d say. And so I did.”
“Forget the Fairytale” is Eriksson’s first published work and took about five years to complete, with breaks in between writing and dating. The book was published in January by Late Bird and can be purchased through Amazon.com for $17.95. “Anybody in a relationship or looking to be in one can benefit from this book,” Eriksson, who is newly engaged, said. “It can hopefully teach people to be realistic about relationships and romance and know the difference between the two.”
Eriksson is a Clinical Social Worker in the Woodside Psychiatric Department at Halifax Regional Medical Center. She has counseled in both clinical and organizational settings since 1992, and has conducted formal and informal relationship research during much of this time. She received her Master’s Degree in Counseling from the Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago.
