Roanoke Valley Women’s Imaging Center Earns Accreditation

ROANOKE RAPIDS, NC – (September 24, 2007) – The Roanoke Valley Women’s Imaging Center, a service of Halifax Regional, has been awarded a three year term of accreditation in mammography, after a recent survey by the American College of Radiology.

Facilities earn accreditation based on the achievement of high practice standards as determined by a peer review evaluation of the facility. The evaluations are conducted by board certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and adequacy of the facility’s equipment.

“The accreditation of the Women’s Imaging Center is an indication to the community that our facility meets the highest standards,” said Bill Navarro, manager of the Imaging Department at Halifax Regional. “Employees at the center work hard to maintain their skills and to ensure that the facility is in top-notch condition,” he added.

Located at 244 C Smith Church Road on the Medical Center campus, the Roanoke Valley Women’s Imaging Center provides a quiet, private location to perform mammogram and ultrasound imaging. Images are read by a radiologist and the results typically are available within 24 to 48 hours.
